Bishop Engineering is a long-established Birmingham engineering business with roots going back to 1909. Founded in Digbeth as a toolmaking company, the business has developed over more than a century while continuing to support practical engineering requirements.
Today, we provide machining, fabrication, repair and bespoke engineering services, working with industrial and commercial customers to deliver reliable, well-crafted solutions.
Bishop Engineering was founded in 1909 in Bishop Street, Digbeth, Birmingham as a toolmaking business. In 1947, the company moved to a purpose-built industrial unit in Milk Street, Digbeth, where it continues to operate today.
Peter Wake joined the business in 1969 and later took over, rebranding it as Bishop Engineering in 2000. Over time, his two sons also joined the company, continuing the family’s involvement in the business and its day-to-day operations.
In 2023, Ben Wake took over the business, continuing its long-standing presence in Digbeth and maintaining its focus on practical, high-quality engineering work. The company remains family-run, reflecting a continuous connection to both the trade and the local area.
Digbeth has long been associated with industry, workshops and manufacturing trades, forming part of Birmingham’s wider engineering heritage. That connection remains an important part of the company’s identity today.
